Consumer and retail research provider The NPD Group has appointed David Pritchard to lead its European toy sales tracking business. He replaces Anna Scott, who is leaving NPD to relocate to Brunei.

Prior to this position, Pritchard was a VP in NPD’s Entertainment & Communications group and led product management for NPD’s US toys business. Before that, he was Director for the firm’s Digital Insights business.

Prior to joining, he worked as a Digital Media Consultant for Synacor; Senior Director for Entertainment at Terra Lycos; and Senior Director of Marketing at Wired Digital. He has an MBA from University of California at Berkeley and a BA from University of York, England.

‘David’s experience in the entertainment industry will be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow and evolve with the industry and help manufacturers and retailers navigate through these challenging times,’ said Group President for NPD Europe, Michel Maury.

NPD’s EuroToys business offers retail point-of-sale and consumer tracking for the industry in nine countries, and the firm also tracks the toys industry in North America and Australia-New Zealand.

The company recently partnered with GfK Chart-Track, and publisher Enterbrain to produce a single source of data on video game software sales in the US, UK and Japan.
