OMA Hires RI Veteran to Drive Outdoor Initiative

January 20 2010

In Australia, the Outdoor Media Association (OMA) has appointed former Research International veteran John Gandar to drive its Measurement of Outdoor Visibility and Exposure (MOVE) initiative towards its launch next month.

John GandarThe OMA is the industry body which represents most of Australia's outdoor media display companies and production facilities, and some media display asset owners.

The MOVE initiative will calculate people's 'likelihood-to-see' (LTS) an outdoor ad campaign rather than counting all potential viewers who pass by. OMA says that this will be the first industry-wide, cross-format planning tool that will cover all the main formats including roadside, airports, shopping centres and railway stations.

Gandar joins on a six-month contract to manage the MOVE project during its transition phase to market.

During his career, Gandar spent nearly 27 years at Research International (RI), latterly as Worldwide Director of Business Change, where he was responsible for a virtual team that implemented organisational change focused on improving the outcomes and delivery of client projects. He was previously Australia and New Zealand CEO.

OMA has also appointed Charmaine Moldrich as CEO - she joins from Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, where she served as Executive Director for Marketing and Events and had direct involvement in the management of outdoor media assets. She replaces Helen Willoughby, who has left the organisation to head up the communications department of the federal government's Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

OMA Chairman Steve McCarthy says the Board is delighted with both appointments and adds: 'John is a highly experienced project manager with significant knowledge of media research. He will be a great asset to the MOVE team.'
