Nielsen Names New European Leaders

As part of an internal restructure, Nielsen has transferred Ivar Michaelsen from its Denmark office, to lead its operation in Germany, while appointing Justin Sargent as Group Managing Director for UK and Ireland.

Michaelsen, who joined Nielsen 25 years ago, replaces Risto Maila, who following the restructure, leaves at the end of the month after ten years with the firm.

In his new role, Michaelsen will be responsible for the German-language speaking countries, as well as for the Benelux region, in addition to his existing management of the Scandinavian market.

Most recently, Sargent worked as UK MD, having joined Nielsen in 1993. He has held senior roles in both the UK and in Australia, where he was responsible for consumer panel services, retailer services and client services, as well as for operational activities. He began his career at Procter & Gamble as a Category Marketing Analyst.
