Panels and MR technology firm Toluna has added social media features to its branded online community management product PanelPortal, to enable community members to interact with each other and provide additional insight for panel owners.
PanelPortal was developed to help clients generate customer insight by creating, hosting and managing their own online communities.
Toluna says its latest version taps into Web 2.0 technology to provide respondents with a more engaging 'socially-inspired' user experience than with a typical custom panel.
Through the platform, community members can post polls and comment on discussions, 'chat' or browse Facebook while in the PanelPortal environment, or 'Tweet' directly from the tool.
'Enabling community members to integrate their Facebook and Twitter experience with PanelPortal provides client benefits in addition to an improved user experience,' states Jeff Scott, President Toluna North America. 'Companies benefit from 'listening' to consumers, and the feedback often provides insight that could not be obtained any other way.'
