In the US, Nielsen/Arbitron joint venture Scarborough Research has hired Nielsen veteran Tom Drouillard as President and CEO, succeeding Gregg Lindner who has moved to Arbitron as Chief Research Officer.
Scarborough measures the lifestyle and shopping patterns, media behaviors and demographics of American consumers, with a focus on local markets.
Drouillard spent 21 years at Nielsen, most recently as President of Nielsen Online. During his career, he also led Claritas, PERQ/HCI, Interactive Market Systems and SRDS.
His new role includes a remit to develop new solution-based services for the firm's clients. He will report to the Board of Directors from 1 January 2011.
'I feel confident passing the leadership reins to Tom,' states Lindner. 'His reputation for innovation, vision and leadership are highly regarded.'
Lindner had been overseeing the day-to-day business and operations of the firm since it was announced that its President Bob Cohen was taking extended medical leave and would not be returning to the company.
