The NPD Group has finalized its acquisition of tech analyst In-Stat, first announced three months ago.
In-Stat will join NPD's growing portfolio of analyst businesses which includes Solarbuzz, Connected Intelligence and DisplaySearch, the last of which will operate in conjunction with the newly acquired company.
In-Stat, which will keep its brand name in the new set-up, delivers intelligence on the mobile Internet and digital entertainment sectors, based on a combination of technical, market and end-user research and database models. NPD says the link-up with DisplaySearch will give it access to an extended network of sales and research support around the world, especially in Asia and Europe.
In-Stat's team will report to Tim Bush, General Manager of The NPD Group's Technology Analyst Business, while Mark Kirstein will continue to serve as In-Stat's President.
NPD bought a stake in the mobile and digital entertainment specialist at the time of a management buyout last April - it was formerly owned by Reed Business Information.
