IFM SMS Makes Leadership Appointments

In the UK, sponsorship research specialist IFM Sports Marketing Surveys (IFM SMS) has promoted Jon Stainer to the post of Deputy Managing Director, while appointing former Synovate director Michael Stone as Head of Research and Consultancy.

IFM Sports Marketing Surveys works in the sponsorship, leisure and tourism sectors. Earlier this year, the firm sold its sports goods business to one of its directors - John Bushell - and the firm's original founder Stephen Proctor.

Stainer has held a number of management positions at IFM SMS since joining in 2000. Most recently, he served as Head of Business Development, before which, he was Media Research Manager for two years.

MD Les Kelly commented: 'With over 10 years' experience at IFM SMS, Jon has a wealth of knowledge across all areas of our business. He will continue to head up our Sales & Marketing operation ensuring that our customer-focused outlook remains central to the business going forward.'

Stone joins from Synovate, where for nearly four years; he has worked exclusively on the Transport for London account. Prior to this, he worked for the Electoral Reform Services for more than 15 years; latterly as Head of Market Research.

Kelly added that the appointments have been made as a result of 'substantial growth' in the business, particularly in the Middle East and Asia.
