Youth-focused research specialist The Sound has reported a 50% increase in sales to $6.4m for the 2010-2011 financial year. As a result of this growth, the firm is planning to open a new office in Chicago in November.Founded in 2007 by Ian Pierpoint, The Sound Research has offices in New York, London, Toronto, and Vancouver. In addition, the firm recently opened a new Diversity Unit to provide research and consultancy on diversity and the 'Millennial generation'.
During the past 12 months, the company has hired nine new members of staff, and recruitment plans will bring the number of full-time staff to 30, by the end of 2011.
The company will also be launching two new digital tools and releasing two feature length documentaries later this year.
CEO Ian Pierpoint comments: 'In the past 12 months we've restructured our business to ensure that rigorous analysis and strategic planning is at the heart of every project. We've grown in size but the work has gotten even smarter, and that's what made this a great year.'
