In the US, energy and environment intelligence specialist IHS Inc. has acquired global advisory and market research firm Purvin & Gertz, which works with clients in the petroleum refining, natural gas, natural gas liquids, crude oil and petrochem industries. Terms were not disclosed.
Launched in 1959 and based in Englewood, Colorado, IHS provides information services and forecasting to the energy and power, defense, risk and security, environmental, health and safety, and sustainability sectors. The firm employs more than 5,400 staff in over 30 countries around the world.
Earlier this year, IHS acquired ODS-Petrodata (ODSP), which provides information about the offshore energy sector.
The latest acquisition adds technical, commercial and strategic advice, as well as subscription-based research, analysis and advisory services. Purvin & Gertz employs around 100 people and is headquartered in Houston with an international network of offices in the US, Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. As part of the deal, more than 80 industry analysts and other professionals join IHS.
