Social media filtering platform DataSift - which was launched in the UK in 2008 by TweetMe creator Nick Halstead - has rolled out in the US with the opening of a San Francisco HQ.
DataSift sorts user conversations from online sources, filtering them for demographic information, online influence and sentiment, and boasts one of only two licences worldwide to make Twitter data commercially available for non-display purposes, allowing users to search for posts using metadata contained in tweets.
The platform does not limit searches based on keywords and allows companies of any size to define complex filters - including location, gender, sentiment and language - and including filtering of any content represented as a link within the post itself.
To support the expansion to the US, Halstead has handed the role of CEO to former Yahoo! exec Rob Bailey, and moved into the position of CTO, where he will focus on the firm's 'technical vision'. Bailey will be based in the new San Francisco office.
Halstead comments: 'Companies need access to real-time intelligence that is impactful to their business, allowing them to easily and quickly detect and respond to major trending events, social behaviors, customer preferences, and ultimately avert any impending crises. We have been amazed with the demand for our platform in the US and are opening an office to cater to this demand.'
