In the US, CRM specialist Merkle has acquired social media applications provider Social Amp. The acquisition will allow Merkle to expand its capabilities in digital marketing and to strengthen its connected CRM approach.
Social Amp, which is a 'Facebook preferred developer', specializes in tools which allow companies to integrate activity on their own web sites with social media such as Facebook and Twitter, including both passive and active data collection across sites. This is intended to generate 'ROI beyond 'likes' with page views, upstream social network referral traffic and social conversations.'
Merkle has confirmed that Social Amp will maintain its identity whilst positioned within its CRM arm, Merkle Connect.
David Williams, Chairman and CEO of Merkle, says: 'The addition of Social Amp's site socialization solution to the Merkle family will present our clients with new insights into how social behaviors influence the consumer decision-making process on websites. It brings the power of Facebook Open Graph data into the brand site to enhance consumer experience and ecommerce. The capability is a perfect fit within Merkle, as it is rooted in information, analytics, technology and ultimately, marketing performance.'
Merkle is privately held, is headquartered in Columbia, Maryland and has offices in Boston; Chicago; Denver; Little Rock; Minneapolis; New York; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; San Francisco; Hagerstown, MD; and Shanghai.
