Search giant Yahoo! has acquired social media polling service GoPollGo and immediately closed down the service. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Founded in 2010 by former CrunchBase.com Web Developer Ben Schaechter (pictured), GoPollGo previously enabled brands and media properties to collect and analyse online feedback. In January, the firm released a beta version of a service called Promoted Polls, through which pollsters could pay to add questions to other non-paid polling questions.
As part of the deal, Yahoo! has closed down the service, while its team has joined Yahoo! Mobile in Sunnyvale, California.
In a message on the site, Schaechter and his colleagues Sam Grossberg and Paul Kompfner said: 'For two years, we've worked incredibly hard to make it as easy as possible to get feedback from friends and followers. It has been so rewarding to build a product that scaled up to millions of people and supported large media properties and diverse brands. We're so excited to bring the knowledge and experience we've gained to Yahoo! We share an enthusiasm for building delightful user experiences, and we couldn't be happier to join forces.'
