US information and analytics firm IHS has continued its acquisition spree and strengthened its own chemical business in Latin America by purchasing petrochemicals market intelligence specialist Intellichem. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The news comes hot on the heels that IHS is to acquire PFC Energy, which provides information, insight, and analytical products and services to the oil and gas sector; and automotive research specialist RL Polk & Co.
Based in Houston, Texas, Intellichem provides market intelligence for the petrochemical business and related industries in Latin America, and IHS says its founder Dr Rina Quijada (pictured) has gained a strong reputation as an international consultant in the petrochemical industry. The firm publishes a bi-weekly report on the olefin and plastics markets in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Venezuela, as well as market intelligence on chemicals and plastics in Latin America.
IHS President and CEO Scott Key comments: 'With Intellichem's deep relationships throughout Latin America and its foothold in the chemical market advisory sector, we believe this acquisition gives IHS an important presence and significant growth potential in a key geography.'
