Potentiate Hires Ooi to Lead New Malaysian Office

Data intelligence and technology company Potentiate Australia has opened an office in Malaysia, and appointed Nielsen veteran Barry Ooi as its Managing Director.

The firm, which already has an overseas office in Japan, offers a range of services including market research, analytical software and sample provision. Barry will be responsible for setting up the new office and for creating a strong presence across Asia. He brings twenty years of business development, marketing and international research experience including fourteen years at Nielsen, where he worked on retail measurement, brand equity and consumer research services across more than twenty markets in South East Asia. He is also the founder and CEO of MR services company Conversation Zone Sdn Bhd, which will now be integrated as a subsidiary of Potentiate Australia.

Ooi (pictured) says his immediate priority is to ensure the new office succeeds in getting the country's MSC status, and to build a strong team. Henry Cheang, founder and CEO of Potentiate says the company has been looking to expand into Asia and that Ooi is 'an ideal person' to lead the new team, bringing 'excellent management and leadership experience combined with an entrepreneurial flair'.
