In the UK, mobile market research technology developer Sumo Insight has launched a real-time research platform created by the firm's co-founders: former Nokia researcher Tina Newport and former EE marketer Colin White.
Sumo is based in London but also employs a team of developers in Scotland. The new mobile market research platform incorporates a mobile app, Sumo Shorts, which uses mobile and GPS technology to capture opinions 'as soon as they are formed' in text, talk, picture or video formats; and Sumo Chat, which enables researchers to engage with participants in the moments immediately after a survey and watch/interact with group forums.
Newport comments: 'Not only are we launching one of the industry's most technically advanced mobile research platforms, we're moving market research forward in a manner that helps brands engage with consumers, treating market research as a touch point as well as a business service. We see huge opportunities for mobile market research services in sectors such as FMCG, retail and events.'
