In the US, big data analytics firm Datameer has secured a $19m Series D round of funding, which it will use to fuel expansion into international markets.Founded in 2009 and based in San Mateo, California, Datameer offers a self-service Hadoop big data application, which includes a point-and-click analytics tool and a drag-and-drop visualization solution.
The funding round was led by Next World Capital (NWC), with participation from existing investors from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Redpoint Ventures.
Stefan Groschupf (pictured), CEO of Datameer, comments: 'This funding is entirely about allowing us to meet the nonstop global demand for our product. Across every industry, companies are moving past Hadoop science projects and realizing they need a proven big data analytics tool that finally frees them from schemas and ETL.'
