In the US, API management platform Apigee has acquired cloud-based predictive analytics firm InsightsOne, as it looks to expand its own big data analytics portfolio. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
InsightsOne's Hadoop and NoSQL-based micro-segmentation technology extracts information from social media and mobile data for use in real-time consumer targeting and marketing. In March 2012, the firm closed a $4.3m Series A round of financing, allowing it to grow its executive team and expand its investment in sales, marketing and product development.
Following the acquisition, Apigee will expand its own data analytics portfolio to deliver a solution that integrates APIs with predictive big data analytics. InsightOne will be offered as a standalone product, as well as part of Apigee's integrated digital business platform for mobile apps, APIs and data analytics by mid-2014.
InsightsOne CEO Waqar Hasan (pictured), who will join Apigee's executive team, comments: 'InsightsOne is a natural fit for Apigee, expanding its big data analytics to make all customer interactions smarter and more effective.'
