Twitter and GfK are to introduce a service called 'GfK Twitter TV Ratings' in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands, providing insights into the frequency and reach of tweets sent from users about the television programmes and ads they are watching.GfK will provide data on messages concerning specific programs, to enable TV stations to identify the additional audience they reach via social media, and provide media agencies and advertisers with analytics to help them plan and evaluate cross-media campaigns.
Ali Rowghani, Twitter's COO, comments: 'People love using Twitter while tuned into television and to participate in the live conversation about TV. We are thrilled that GfK will be bringing its audience measurement experience to social media, to enable TV stations to measure the total audience they reach.'
