Market research, events and publishing company Light Reading has been acquired by co-founder Stephen Saunders from its current owner UBM. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but in a statement, UBM said it will retain a 'significant minority stake' in the business.
Light Reading, which was launched in 2000, provides research and advisory services via its MR division Heavy Reading, as well as producing online publications, webinars and live events. In 2005, the company was acquired by UBM business unit CMP Media, since when Saunders (pictured) has served as the MD of UBM marketing services division DeusM, which has launched 45 online communities in less than three years.
Saunders comments: 'This is the perfect time to be back in charge of the largest and most engaged community of qualified telecom decision-makers in the world. And we are very pleased to have UBM as a partner as we continue our journey forward. The bottom line is that the companies that make up the world's $2 trillion telecom supply chain can expect much more coverage from Light Reading, in much more detail.'
