Non-profit association The Media Rating Council (MRC) has hired former Arbitron CRO Gregg Lindner for its newly created position of Senior Vice President, Research Methods and Statistics. He will take up his new role on March 3.
The MRC accredits audience measurement services that are relied on by buyers and sellers in the ad industry. To gain MRC accreditation, organisations must disclose to their customers all methodological aspects of their service, comply with the MRC minimum standards for media rating research, and submit to audits to authenticate their procedures.
Lindner (pictured) joins from ratings giant Arbitron (now Nielsen Audio), where he served as EVP, Radio Service Innovation, and Chief Research Officer (CRO), responsible for research quality methods, product development, custom research, and overseeing MRC accreditation efforts. Prior to this, he spent seventeen years at Arbitron/Nielsen joint venture Scarborough Research, where he latterly served as EVP in charge of day-to-day business and operations. Earlier in his career, Lindner worked for Simmons Market Research, and for Arbitron.
MRC Executive Director and CEO George Ivie comments: 'Gregg's extensive background as a senior executive at Arbitron, Scarborough, and Simmons make him a perfect fit, as MRC continues to face more diverse and challenging accreditation areas. Gregg will further strengthen our ability to serve the changing needs of stakeholders that rely on more granular audience measurements and inferences.'
