Ad personalisation specialist Phorm has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Telecom, establishing it as the giant company's preferred strategic partner in the field of big data technology and advertising operations.
The Memorandum is valid for three years and covers a wide-range of proposed initiatives. China Telecom is the world's largest provider of wireline telecommunications with around 155m lines; supplier of code division multiple access (CDMA) mobile network services with c.185m subscribers, and broadband Internet services provider with around 100m customers.
Phorm announced the commercial launch of its operations in China in a trading update at the end of January; and says it expects to launch with further ISPs in China later this year. The company, which as long as two and a half years ago had burned through more than $150m in financing, has been planning its operations in China for some two years, and has recently announced a fast-growing business inTurkey, promising an end - ? - to more than six years of globetrotting frustration in its attempts to build a profitable business.
