Brighton, UK-based social media monitoring and analytics specialist Brandwatch has raised $22m in growth funding, and says it will double its product and engineering teams, accelerate development of its platforms and continue with international expansion.
The firm was launched in 2007 and has US offices in New York, Chicago and San Francisco as well as two German locations, Berlin and Stuttgart. The firm crawls the Internet, archiving social media data from more than 70 million sources in 27 languages, and provides clients with the tools to analyse the resulting data.
New funding has been led by Highland Capital Partners Europe, with participation from Nauta Capital, and will be used to focus on emerging social media platforms in Asia, while continuing to expand in North America.
Giles Palmer (pictured), Brandwatch CEO, comments: 'Our reputation is only as good as our technology which is why we plan to funnel this investment directly into our engineering department. Our partnership with Highland will help fuel Brandwatch's lightning-paced growth on a global level, especially in New York City and San Francisco.'
