Chris Modzelewski, the founder of online audience research specialist Gemius S.A., has joined New York-based digital media measurement company Verto Analytics as Chief Research Officer. Separately, Timo Smura has joined the firm in Finland, as Head of Research and Analytics.Verto offers a portfolio of measurement services with a focus on syndicated research and analytics, and accessed through a single-source. Its executive team is based in New York City, and its R&D team in Espoo, Finland.
Modzelewski joins with fifteen years of experience in the media research industry. He founded Gemius S.A. in 1999, sold the company to a private equity fund nearly nine years later, and has also served as President of Polish out-of-home specialist Outdoor Research. In his new role, Modzelewski will be responsible for designing Verto's research products and overseeing their development. He will report to CEO Hannu Verkasalo, who recently joined the company after founding Finnish mobile measurement firm Zokem, and selling it to ratings giant Arbitron.
Smura joins after a thirteen-year background in carrier and telecoms consulting. Most recently, he worked at the University of California, Berkeley, and Aalto University, Finland, leading research teams in the fields of digital technologies and business, and Internet usage measurement. At Verto Analytics, he will be responsible for data science, data analysis and research operations.
