Webcam-enabled focus group provider FocusVision Worldwide has acquired US-based research tool developer Revelation Global. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Revelation Global is based in Portland, Oregon and was founded in 2007 by Steve August. The firm develops qual research software for web and mobile platforms, and offers a text visualization and visual search tool called Word Trees, which avoids the need for users to export data to another tool in order to conduct content analysis.
As part of the deal, the two businesses will merge to become one company, while the Revelation Next mobile and web qualitative research app will be incorporated into the FocusVision product suite of live video streaming and real-time online digital qual products. August becomes FocusVision's Chief Innovation Officer.
FocusVision CEO Eric Grosgogeat (pictured) comments: 'Before making this acquisition, we evaluated the different qualitative research platforms and selected Revelation because of its cutting edge design, unique activity-based approach and ability to support a myriad of qualitative methods including bulletin boards, mobile diaries, projective and innovation exercises. Together we are setting a new standard in qualitative insights technology.'
