PR software company Cision has acquired UK-based media intelligence and insights firm Gorkana Group from its parent Discovery Group Holdings. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Gorkana offers media analysis and monitoring services, and in March launched a real-time DIY survey solution for use in PR surveys, crisis monitoring, 'newsjacking' and KPI tracking. Through this service, users can access a network of more than four million potential respondents who can be targeted according to their age, gender and income.
Cision says the buy strengthens its own offering to PR professionals, while also better serving the international journalist community. As part of the deal, the Gorkana brand will remain and its CEO Jeremy Thompson will join the Cision executive management team as EMEA Managing Director.
The announcement follows Cision's merger with Vocus and its recent acquisition of social media listening and engagement software specialist Visible Technologies.
Cision CEO Peter Granat (pictured) comments: 'Our acquisition of Gorkana is the next step toward achieving Cision's mission to be a global leader in PR and social software with the most advanced and comprehensive suite of solutions and services in the market.'
