IHS Buys Oil and Gas Sector Analyst Rushmore Reviews

US-based information and analytics firm IHS has acquired Aberdeen, Scotland-based Rushmore Reviews, which provides information services for the oil and gas industry. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rushmore Reviews was established in 1989 as a joint venture between Rushmore Associates - founded by Peter and Helen Rushmore - and the Sigma Consultancy (later acquired by the Rushmores, leaving them as the sole owners of the Rushmore Reviews). The firm analyzes and publishes offset well data for exploration and production operators, and maintains a database of 70,000 proprietary wells which is used to enable subscribers to share their data and benchmark their performance against others in the industry.

Scott Key, President and CEO of IHS, says Rushmore's benchmarking and analytics products complement the existing set of IHS well information assets and expand them globally. 'The combination will create best-in-class capabilities, giving IHS Energy customers information, software and historical context to make key business and efficiency decisions that are difficult to replicate elsewhere.'
