In the UK, video big data technology specialist Big Sofa has launched a crowdfunding initiative, with the aim of raising £700k in exchange for a 10% equity stake in the company.
Founded in 2005 by former Research International CEO Simon Lidington and organisational psychology specialist Matt Lynch, London-based Big Sofa allows users to upload, edit, analyse and share video and other digital content. The company is now seeking investors through the www.crowdcube.com web site, and has already raised more than a quarter (27% or £193,860) of the £700,000 it requires.
Commenting on the initiative, the pair said: 'We're seeking investment to help us take the next step in our growth. We want to continue to develop new features and improve the platform by incorporating new and innovative emerging technology. This means boosting our video/image capture capability, as well as our processing and automated analytical functionality'.
