MRBA Launches Fundraising Week

June 5 2015

UK MR charity the Market Research Benevolent Association (MRBA) is organising its first fundraising week in October, pursuing its goal of helping researchers who have fallen on hard times.

The MRBA is hoping agencies will get competitive about fundraisingFounded in 1977, the MRBA is funded by donations from across the market research sector, and provides financial help, advice and support to people who are working or have worked in the industry. The annual auction is the highlight of its fundraising calendar, and this year raised more than £8,500.

Taking place from 19th - 23rd October 2015, the new 'Helping Researchers in Need' initiative is intended to generate more awareness about the organisation's work, especially among younger researchers who may need the association's help in the future, while encouraging more companies to support its efforts. Companies are invited to nominate an 'MRBA Champion' staff member, who will work alongside the association to help plan various fundraising events during the week, and promote the organisation among their colleagues.

More than twenty organisations have already signed up, and MRBA Champions are invited to attend a networking launch party in central London on 19th October, where they can share ideas over drinks and canapés. The MRBA hopes companies will compete against each other to see which can raise the most money, with suggested fundraising ideas including organising coffee and cake sales in the office, hosting drinks after work and asking for donations, setting up inter-departmental competitions, and taking part in sponsored events.
