Czech Republic-based social media monitoring company Sociabakers has appointed Robert Lang as its new Chief Executive Officer, replacing co-founder Jan Rezab who takes on the role of Executive Chairman.
Launched in 2009 by Rezab, Jiri Voves, Martin Homolka, and Lukas Maixner, Socialbakers offers benchmarking and impact analysis for clients' marketing campaigns across all major social networks. Last year, the firm completed a $26m Series C financing round, for investment in new product development initiatives, and to strength client support, sales and marketing in the US and other markets around the world. To date, the firm has received $34m in investment funding, and it has 330 employees globally.
Lang (pictured) joins from online ad company Criteo, where he worked for nearly six years, and latterly served as Executive MD/Fast Growing Markets. Earlier, he was CEO of service firm Result, and he worked as MD of FON Germany, and of Swisscom Eurospot Deutschland.
Lang will now be responsible for the operational day-to-day running of the company, sales, and building the company internationally; while Rezab will focus on market education, key client relationships, and strategic insight. Lang is based in Munich, but will commute to Socialbakers' headquarters in Prague.
In a statement, Rezab said: 'As a founder, I think it's important to recognize what areas you're strong in, and what areas you need help in. When you bring people together with skills that complement each other, it's a really amazing thing. We've been searching for the perfect person to lead Socialbakers for just about a year now. Along the way, I met a bunch of brilliant folks. But the first time I met Robert, I knew he was the right person for the job'.
