Chief Operating Officer Brian J. West has resigned from Nielsen, effective at the end of the year when his responsibilities 'will be divided among existing company executives'.
West, whose next move is not known to DRNO at this time, joined the company in February 2007 when he replaced Rob Ruijter as CFO, and was promoted to Chief Operating Officer, replacing Mitchell Habib, seven years later. As CFO, he was closely involved in returning the measurement giant to the public domain after the Valcon acquisition in 2006.
Before joining Nielsen, he spent sixteen years in senior financial management positions within the global GE organization, latterly as CFO at GE Aviation, Infrastructure. Having interned at GE while in college, he joined GE Plastics on its Financial Management Program, relocated to Antwerp, Belgium to help establish its first shared services operations in Europe, and rose through a number of finance roles including CFO of NBC's TV Stations Division and CFO of GE Engine Services. He holds an MBA from Columbia University and graduated in Finance from Siena College.
