Energy Consulting group ESIA has announced the completed acquisition of Douglas Westwood Limited (DWL), whose consulting and analytical expertise for the oilfield services market will be combined with its existing oil and gas strategy division Hannon Westwood.
ESIA was formed in January this year with the aim of assembling a portfolio of businesses focused around data, research and insight for the global energy exploration and production markets. DWL, which is already its fourth acquisition, offers bespoke and multi-client research, strategic and commercial reviews for the OFS market and was formed 25 years ago in 1990 by entrepreneur John Westwood. The firm has offices in Houston, Singapore and the UK.
ESIA Chairman Gavin Prise says the buy effectively doubles the size of the business and brings it global coverage, adding to the exploration & production sector expertise it already has in subsidiaries Hannon Westwood, Novas and Richmond Energy Partners.
John Westwood (pictured), Chairman and Founder of Douglas Westwood, comments: 'After 25 years of delivering unique research insights to our clients, we are delighted to take this next step in our evolution. We have long recognised the potential to combine niche intelligence providers while capitalising on the global infrastructure and brand that Douglas Westwood has created... The combination of the two businesses will enable the group to provide clients with a greatly increased range of products and services spanning the entire upstream, midstream and downstream oil & gas sectors'.
Hannon Westwood, of which Richard McGrath was appointed CEO just two weeks ago, delivers commercial and technical intelligence to the upstream oil and gas industry, spanning E&A, field production, export options, fiscal studies and corporate acquisitions.
ESIA says it 'continues to seek businesses that offer unique business intelligence, analytical software solutions and technical insights into the energy industry'.
