London-based not for profit organisation NatCen Social Research has found its new Chief Executive. Guy Goodwin joins on 3rd May from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) where he is the Director of Social and Analysis; and is also UK Director of Social Statistics at the European Union.
At the ONS, Goodwin (pictured) is also responsible for publications on a range of policy areas from population and migration to crime, and health and wellbeing. He has served as Director of Population and Demography and Head of Social Data collection during more than twenty years in leadership roles in the Government Statistical Service. He studied statistics at the London School of Economics and is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society.
In his new role, he leads more than 100 researchers and 800 survey interviewers delivering some of the UK's biggest quantitative surveys, including nine national statistics, plus major qual programmes in areas including crime and justice.
Professor Sir Bob Burgess, Chair of NatCen's Board of Trustees, says Goodwin brings 'dynamic leadership and a passion for serving the public good, as well as a wealth of experience with social surveys, research and analysis'.
