London-based Video data tech company Big Sofa has appointed former FocusVision EMEA MD Richard Collins to the newly created position of Chief Customer Officer, responsible for managing its global client base.Headquartered near London Bridge and founded as a research agency in 2005 by former Research International CEO Simon Lidington and organisational psychology specialist Matt Lynch, Big Sofa has been adding to its senior team, last month appointing former Infotools exec Amanda Boote for a newly created role, Global Head of Marketing and Business Development. The firm, which allows users to upload, edit, analyse and share video and other digital content, says it is preparing to open its first office in the US.
Collins worked in sales and account management roles for Quantime, SPSS and PulseTrain for fifteen years, leaving the last of these at the end of 2007 to join Confimit where he was Partner/Alliance Director - EMEA. From here, in February 2012 he joined US-based MR tech company Decipher, establishing its first overseas office, and became a Director and then Managing Director of what became Decrypt, due to a dispute over UK use of the Decipher name. When the parent company was acquired by FocusVision in early 2015, he became the larger group's Managing Director for EMEA.
CEO Lidington says of the latest hire: 'The collection, curation and analysis of images is one of the fastest growing areas in the market research industry and it's great to be at the forefront of the sector. Richard's appointment coincides with our expansion both in the UK and in the US, and I know he is the right person to manage and support our rapidly expanding global client base'.
