In Australia, The Lab Insight & Strategy has opened an office in Sydney, where it has hired former GfK director Andrew Therkelsen as Managing Director.
Founded in 2006 and based in Melbourne, the firm offers a variety of brand strategy and positioning, qualitative research and insights, and semiotics services. Therkelsen (pictured) joins with more than fifteen years' international and local experience, most recently from GfK where he was Director, Head of Social and Commercial Insights, after serving as Head of Qual, Consumer Experiences. Earlier, he worked for the Leading Edge as Managing Partner, Head of Qualitative Research in charge of a team of ten; and before this as Joint Head of Research and Board Director at Discovery Research in London.
Commenting on the expansion and appointment, CEO Paul Labagnara said: 'Andrew is a true insights professional and a natural leader - this coupled with his extensive experience across a wide range of industries and his passion and drive to deliver for clients made him the perfect choice for the role. We started The Lab in Melbourne ten years ago and with a growing client base in Sydney, the time is right for us to open a new office and expand and grow into that market'.
