San Francisco-based neuromarketing platform CoolTool has launched the beta version of an AI-powered webcam-based eye tracking tool, which it claims opens new opportunities for eye tracking research. The NeuroLab by CoolTool suite provides solutions for eye tracking, EEG, emotion measurement, surveys and mouse tracking, for testing media such as video, printed or digital advertising, product packaging and web sites. It also offers a tool called Emotion Measurement which uses facial coding to differentiate seven basic emotions; and last year the firm launched a product called Emotions in Browser, which measures respondents' emotions without the need for them to install an app, only requiring them to have a camera on their laptop or smartphone.
According to CoolTool, webcam-based eye tracking is perfect for testing of communication materials - videos, static advertising, product visibility on a shelf, and web site mockups. Eye tracking will now be accessible not only for digital and professional research agencies, but for mass usage by marketers, advertisers, designers and all other individuals who need 'fast and affordable' consumer insights. Respondents can take tests regardless of their location - from the computer, laptop or from a smartphone, and do not have to install any kind of software. The 'turned on' webcam makes it possible to conduct eye tracking and emotion measurement tests simultaneously.
In a statement, the firm said: 'The CoolTool team continues to work on the improvement of its technology and strives to launch the most high-precision eye-tracking technology in the world in the nearest possible future'.
