NPD Appoints Group President

The NPD Group has appointed Randy Smith as Group President with responsibility for leading several NPD divisions: NPD Foodworld, NPD Automotive, NPD Canada and the firm's interests in Latin America. The Group says it is preparing for further expansion in the US and abroad.

Smith, 53, has 25 years of senior leadership experience in the marketing information industry and will be based in the Chicago office. He served for three years as President and COO of NFO WorldGroup, after 18 years at IRI which included management of the International Services Group, the Information Technology and Operations Division, and the Testing Services Division. He holds a BA from Michigan State, as well as an MS in management from Purdue University.
