Gill Aitchison, MD of Ipsos ASI (the company's ad research division), has been appointed to the new role of MD of Ipsos UK. The appointment will allow the company's CEO Richard Silman to focus more on global development. James Mundell, formerly of Synovate, will replace Aitchison as head of ASI.
Aitchison joined Ipsos UK in 2002 when the company acquired Research in Focus, a strategic MR consultancy, which she helped to build. Prior to Research in Focus, she spent nine years with the Mars group. In the new position of MD, she will be responsible for all the company's marketing, advertising and loyalty divisions. Aitchison says that bringing the three teams under one management structure will help the company to focus on 'clients' requirements for complete solutions, whilst retaining specialist teams'.
CEO Richard Silman will retain responsibility for Media, Public Affairs, Logistics, Finance and HR within Ipsos UK. He also plans to devote more time to his role as head of Global Media, and focus on developing new products.
Former Synovate Business Development Director, James Mundell succeeds Aitchison as MD of Ipsos ASI, and will also sit on the Ipsos UK board. Mundell has previously worked with TNS, BrandVision, Millward Brown and BMRB International. Describing his new appointment as a 'genuine privilege', Mundell said: 'In the research world, and in the UK in particular, there is no topic more stimulating or more hotly debated than advertising effectiveness.'
