US provider ABI Research has hired wireless technology expert Clint Wheelock as Vice President of Research, responsible for the management of industry research content across all sectors, including its core practice areas of broadband, wireless, RFID, and transportation.
Wheelock joins from the NPD Group, where he was Vice President, Wireless. Previous roles include Director of Wireless Research at In-Stat, and time at Qwest Communications and Verizon Communications (then GTE).
Tim Archdeacon, ABI's President and founder, comments: 'There is a growing need for high quality market assessment in the global technology industries we cover... Convergence is the catalyst for that demand... Clint's career has been built on a foundation of research and strategy, which gives him a unique perspective and the experience to lead our research content and services-focused growth.' Wheelock praised ABI's 'deep coverage of emerging telecom and electronics markets' and said he looks forward to working with the company's teams of 'top-notch industry analysts.'
He replaces Edward Rerisi, who, since 2003, has overseen a period of rapid growth and expansion at the firm, and who will now focus his efforts on the operations side. Archdeacon explains: 'Research Operations has become a full time job, distinct from the content side of research, and with Ed free to devote more of his energy to operations and implementation management, we can better pursue the many opportunities we see before us.'
ABI Research has its headquarters in New York, and is online at www.abiresearch.com
