Mitchell J. Habib has taken up Nielsen's newly created post of Executive VP, Global Business Services, where he will have overall responsibility for all operational and information technology functions throughout the group.
Habib is known as an advocate of large scale outsourcing, from his recent position as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Citigroup, and beforehand as CIO at General Electric. Prior to this he was Director of Global Maintenance Technologies at transportation firm, Ryder, and Director of Sales Administration, Distribution and Information Technology at pharmaceutical company Goldline Labs.
Reporting in to Chairman and CEO, David L. Calhoun, Habib will oversee both the systems that support information development and delivery to Nielsen's client base, and the company's day-to-day IT infrastructure. Commenting on Habib's appointment, Calhoun said: 'His knowledge, experience and commitment to continuous improvement will have a vital role during our transition to a single, integrated operating company that provides better service to its clients.'
