London-based B2B MR firm BDRC has acquired the remainder of telephone and online research agency Perspective, buying out its joint venture partner Richard Sheldrake in an undisclosed cash and shares deal.
Sheldrake retains his role as Perspective's MD and becomes a Board Director and shareholder of BDRC. He has worked in the MR industry for around twenty years, having commenced his career as a telephone interviewer for BMSL (now Harris Interactive), where he moved on to research, client liaison, project management and data analysis roles. Prior to this he worked for Freelance Research managing an in-house team of interviewers. He also previously served as Deputy Chairman of the British Market Research Association (BMRA), before it was absorbed into the MRS last April.
He and his wife Jemma founded Perspective in 1996,and in 1999 BDRC and Perspective became joint venture partners. The firm has 185 CATI stations across three call centres based in west London, Docklands and in Slough.
Dr Crispian (Cris) Tarrant, MD of BDRC says that the move brings the two firms' activities together and confirms that Perspectives will continue to operate as a stand alone company within the group, which employs more than 60 staff and has revenues of c.£10 million.
