Founder Rejoins Canada's Decima

Allan Gregg is to rejoin public opinion and MR firm Decima Research as Chairman, from September 1st. Gregg, who founded the company in 1979, will focus on developing new business opportunities for the flourishing company.

Decima has become one of Canada's largest market and opinion researchers, with revenues of more than $30 million and growth averaging more than 10%. In addition to full service work it also offers data collection services for other MR firms.

CEO Bruce Anderson comments: 'Allan Gregg is a singular talent, exceptionally capable at contextualizing and distilling the essence of a marketing or issue management challenge and thinking creatively about strategies to overcome that challenge. As he is the person who brought me into the research business and Decima more than 20 years ago, it's a delight to be working with him again.'

With offices in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver, Decima has a full time staff of more than 125 people and operates a proprietary online panel of more than 140,000 Canadians. Gregg says he has 'felt some satisfaction in watching, from a distance, the resurgence of Decima in recent years, and I applaud the investment the company has made in great people and leading edge solutions for clients. The future of research will be a blend of newer online techniques combined with traditional data collection and Decima is exceptionally well positioned to offer the right mix.'

Gregg is the host of a popular talk show, Allan Gregg In Conversation With, and is a frequent contributor to newspapers and magazines. He sits on General Motors' Advisory Board, The Bank of Montreal's Advisory Council on Retirement and is the Chair of the Walrus Foundation, publisher of the 2007 magazine of the year, the Walrus. Earlier this year he received the Lifetime Distinction Award from the Public Affairs Association of Canada. His eclectic mix of non-research pursuits include founding shareholder of Canada's children's network YTV, Chairman of the Toronto Film Festival and producer of documentaries and recordings by Canadian artists including The Tragically Hip.
