infoGROUP, until this week known as infoUSA, is combining two of its market research businesses, recently acquired Guideline and Opinion Research Corporation (ORC), and has placed ORC President Gerard Miodus in charge of all operations for the new unit.
Customized business research and analysis provider Guideline was itself formed from a number of recently merged firms, FIND/SVP, Teltech, Signia Partners, Guideline Research and Atlantic Research. infoUSA bought ORC at the end of 2006 and immediately set about restructuring it.
Says infoGROUP Chairman and CEO Vin Gupta, 'Market research is an important and growing part of infoGROUP's business. Combining both Guideline and Opinion Research Corporation under a single management structure will allow us to realize significant synergies between the two companies and make both businesses stronger by enhancing their capabilities and the services they can provide to their customers.'
Miodus comments: 'Both Opinion Research Corporation and Guideline have excellent reputations in the market, talented and dedicated employees and strong customer relationships. By working more closely together, both companies will be able to more effectively leverage each other's strengths to grow in the U.S. and internationally.'
Guideline is headquartered in New York and supports over 10,000 marketing, business development and R&D executives at 1,700 U.S. based companies, with offices in Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis and Washington, DC. ORC is based in Princeton, with offices in London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne, Chicago, Boise, and Seattle.
