In the UK, Harris Interactive plans to make between fifteen and twenty full-time employees redundant. The firm says the move will help align the cost structure of its UK operations with the evolving needs of the business.
Expenses associated with the layoffs will be around $500,000 (c.£250,000) in one-time termination benefits, all of which will involve cash payments.
President for Europe George Terhanian told DRNO that the company is currently in consultation with a number of employees, and expects to complete the workforce reduction by 31 July.
The UK restructure follows separate actions taken during April and May to reduce headcount at several of the firm's US facilities by a total of 24 full-time employees; again at a cost of around $500,000.
Additionally the company took steps to cut costs in the US by reducing leased space at its Cincinnati, Ohio facility. Associated expenses will be around $200,000 in contract termination charges relating to the office lease.
Harris Interactive has been cutting costs in reaction to the substantial revenue drop experienced by its US healthcare business. Declines in both the US and UK have resulted in a drop of 4% in organic revenue.
President and CEO Greg Novak said in a statement in May that revenue growth in healthcare research is unlikely to return until 2009.
The firm, which has approximately 1,300 full time employees, is online at www.harrisinteractive.com .
Shares fell 5.97% today to $1.89.
