Digital marketing group TMN has appointed Datamonitor founder Mike Danson to the Board as a non-executive director. Danson currently holds 28.78% of the ordinary share capital of the TMN Group.
Danson, now 45, founded Datamonitor in 1990. The firm was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2000 and in summer 2007 was sold to Informa for just over £500 million. Danson took his stake in TMN above the 25% threshold in August. Informa itself has been the subject of recent bids, now withdrawn, while a management buyout bid for TMN failed in July.
Peter Harkness, Chairman of TMN, commented on the appointment: 'We are delighted that Mike will be joining us on the Board. He has a tremendous track record in developing media companies and brings extensive relevant expertise and experience to the Group.'
Danson, who reportedly made £165m from the Datamonitor sale, currently holds directorships in Estel Property Investments Ltd, New Statesman Ltd and Progressive Capital Ltd, and has previously been a director of more than a dozen firms including Business Insights Ltd, Butler Research Ltd, Datamonitor, Ovum and Verdict Research Ltd.
