Social networking solutions firm Lithium Technologies has launched a set of analytics to measure and benchmark the 'health' of online communities.
The new Lithium Insights service includes two tools to enable customers to monitor aspects of community health, compare their communities' performance to benchmarks, and receive step-by-step recommendations to help improve performance.
Produced weekly, Lithium's Community Health Index defines six characteristics identified as being key to defining a healthy community, and allows businesses to measure and asses their own community against them.
To complement this, the Lifecycle Benchmark Service offers the ability to benchmark the success and health of an online community from the very first hours of the community launch and throughout the community's life.
'The Community Health Index provides an open methodology that can be used by all community managers,' said CEO Lyle Fong. 'Our hope is that this is the beginning of an industry-wide discussion about a common metric and we look forward to the broader community's feedback.'
Founded in 2001, Emeryville, California-based Lithium delivers online customer communities to encourage customers to share knowledge, connect with each other, and connect with the enterprise. Web site: www.lithium.com .
