Overview of the Research Industry

MR Association(s):

Market and Opinion Research Society of the Philippines

MR industry turnover has more than doubled since 2003 according to ESOMAR, from $27m to $58m. This includes a very large jump in 2007 (2006 figure: $44m). The media research sector has seen some controversy in the past few years, with television company ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp suing AGB Nielsen Media Research (AGB) for allegedly fixing ratings, and (separately) the country's senate considering regulation of opinion polls due to a members' concern that otherwise 'public survey firms would run the government and society'.
