Job Spec: On behalf of a quirky, boutique, established and passionate full-service mid-size market research agency, we are looking for an ambitious, energetic insight-led senior quantitative researcher to support the business and drive new thinking in their offer. We need someone with a real appetite for research who has a thorough grounding in a range of quantitative approaches (mainly via online research), and who is interested in developing their career with us to become a trusted advisor for our broad range of clients.
The current need:
You will have experience with all aspects of a project rather than outsourcing to other teams. This means you must be skilled in all elements of a quant project lifecycle:
- Assisting with memorable proposals, including helping to decide on an appropriate methodology, pulling project costs together, and writing (all, most or part of) winning documents
- Writing comprehensive questionnaires that flow well, are easy to understand, implement appropriate skip patterns / routing, and hit the client's brief
- Analysing data to get the most out of the information collected
- Pulling PowerPoint reports together from scratch, contributing to succinct and actionable summaries, conclusions, and implications that address client's issues and incorporate broader knowledge - all in our 'story-led' visually engaging reports
- Presenting to clients.
The role requires solid project management skills - and any experience in projects involving advanced analytics is a plus. Knowledge of 'self-serve' data processing programmes (e.g. SPSS, Desktop Reporter, Q) - or at least comfort in getting up to speed quickly with these - is a big plus.
You'll be working across our portfolio of clients, which might include media / entertainment brands, (UK and international) retailers, utilities clients, publishers, food and drink manufacturers, and betting & gaming brands to name a few; and will be responsible for maintaining and growing existing/ new client relationships for some of our smaller accounts (tbd based on your experience) which are so fundamental to the success of our business.
The person we're looking for is:
- Versed in and willing to take an active role in leading the entire insight project lifecycle, from brief through to delivery (awareness of both qualitative and quantitative project lifecycles is a bonus)
- A self-starter, and confident enough to take on a variety of tasks and responsibilities with some supervision
- Good at time management and planning skills for your own work, and those you work with
- Managing suppliers to help us meet - or ideally exxceed - our client's expectations
- Keen to be involved in thinking beyond a project-by-project basis, learning more about trends and categories, and developing liaison skills that underpin career development
- Acting as a mentor to more junior team members, being supportive of others, and leading by example
- Willing to support the wider team by taking responsibility for the basics (link checking, pulling charts together, proof reading, etc.)
- Brave, curious and genuine, the three values that are central to the culture.
Your responsibilities:- Managing end-to-end research projects, which would include:
- Inputting into project design, and supporting with elements of proposal writing
- Setting up projects and owning supplier relationships, including vetting new technology platforms
- Survey design and quality control checking, monitoring progress and updating teams / clients on progress of projects
- Identifying the story through data processing (using the Q programme), identifying and creating appropriate analysis breaks, and - when appropriate - liaising with Analytics specialists on any advanced statistical requirements (e.g. MaxDiff, Conjoint, Segmentation)
- Producing clear thoughtful and client ready documentation for Director review.
- Developing analysis and creative thinking skills through generating and presenting project findings
- Managing supplier and client relationships where applicable, ensuring communications are prompt, polite and delivered in an appropriate style/tone
- Growing your own areas of interest or passion by being self-motivated, reading, attending external events
- Line management of juniors (both formal and informal).
Therefore, we're looking for someone who has:
- At least 5 years background within an insight agency
- Diversity in project experience, covering quantitative ad hoc projects (tracking and qualitative experience would be a bonus)
- Experience in managing supplier and/or client relationships
- Technical (hands on) experience in data-processing ideally using Q, but could be using other programmes like SPSS
- Creative flair, with an interest in making information beautiful
- Accuracy and attention to detail in all elements of their work, both written and verbal
- Bravery in producing strong work for clients, and sharing your views both internally and externally
- A desire to learn and grow, and be part of a team that is going places.
