Job Spec: Our client's mission is to create economic growth that is resilient, sustainable, and inclusive. They are a social enterprise, combining purpose with commercial rigour, funded by grants, partners, and a portfolio of commercial ventures and events and this role sits in the tourism sector. The commercial team is responsible for delivering income and profit through a diverse range of channels and programmes including B2C eCommerce ticket sales, sponsorship and advertising.


Purpose of role

This is a unique opportunity to define a delivery model for a Visitor Data Trust. Data and insights power the visitor economy and understanding visitor behaviour (where, why, when, how, what) are crucial to delivering and measuring the impact of experience strategy and business improvement.

You will lead a high profile discovery project and pilot to define the vision for a new Data Trust. You will work closely with the data team to build on the success of an existing data service and consult with stakeholders to define key analytical use cases and research questions. Your key objective is to define a business model and delivery plan for a commercially viable Data Trust.


Key tasks

  • Service design: define a data service model and delivery plan to provide actionable insights
  • Stakeholder management: Consult with key stakeholders to define requirements and balance conflicting demands.
  • Insight led: Define the key research questions, working closely with analysts to ensure that analysis facilitates actionable insights.
  • Data management: Coordinate the integration of diverse data sources into a coherent data service.
  • Commercially viable: Develop a data trust governance model and define the delivery mechanism that will meet the needs of users whilst also being commercially viable.
  • Future proofed: build a vision for how the data trust could evolve, considering the integration of additional data sets and use of artificial intelligence to deliver insight
  • Project leadership: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of the data trust discovery project and pilot.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Essential
  • Proven experience in leading data-centric projects, preferably involving data trusts or similar data governance structures.
  • Proven experience of consulting with a wide variety of stakeholders to define data requirements.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, negotiating and strong communication skills at all levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance, data protection regulations, and data privacy.
  • Technical proficiency in data integration and management tools.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and solve technical challenges
  • Demonstrates a proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to take initiative and drive projects independently.

Desirable
  • Experience in the tourism and hospitality sector.
  • Experience with product management or service design, including capturing and prioritising user needs.
  • Experience with data trust models and implementation.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools.
  • Understanding of ethical considerations in data sharing and usage.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., Agile, PRINCE2).
