Job Spec: Our client is a growing social research consultancy committed to the mission of rebalancing power dynamics across knowledge production and humanitarian interventions within and beyond the international development sector. As such, they approach each project by first seeking to understand contextual settings through mediation of local knowledge. The research team works with clients across the humanitarian, development and peace-keeping sector, bringing an innovative, intersectional and expert-based approach to all its projects. Their diverse and international team of researchers include experts in conflict, gender, climate change and forced displacement and they successfully carry out M&E and research projects across Fragile and Conflict-Affected situations in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
We seek a dedicated and detail oriented Project Coordinator to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will support the coordination and management of various projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This role is pivotal in facilitating smooth project operations and communication between team members and stakeholders.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Project Support
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of research projects from inception to completion.
- Maintain and update project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
- Organise and participate in meetings, preparing agendas, minutes, and follow-up action items.
- Coordinate with team members and external partners to ensure timely delivery of project components.
- Monitor project timelines and milestones, addressing any issues that arise.
- Develop detailed work plans to guide project activities.
- Ensure that work plans are aligned with project goals and timelines.
- Regularly review and update work plans as needed.
Fieldwork Planning:
- Coordinate logistics for fieldwork activities, including travel, accommodations, and necessary permits.
- Ensure compliance with project plans and safety guidelines.
Person Specification
Qualification and experience
- Master's degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in project coordination or a similar role.
- Experience working with international humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding projects and teams is desirable
- Proficiency in French, Arabic or Spanish desirable.
Core competencies
- Research skills: Ability to think critically and analytically to extract information for relevance and context, strong report drafting skills, and ability to write in a lucid, accessible style.
- Project management: Understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
- Communication: Ability to communicate (verbal and written) confidently in English and adapt to different audiences and cultural contexts.
- Technical proficiency: Experience with project management software and tools.

- Attention to detail: A commitment to high-quality deliverables and reports, meticulous in approach to research and report writing.
