In the US, the developers of campus safety app Drunk Mode have launched a location data company called X-Mode.The new firm will focus on location data quality and quantity, privacy related to location data purchasing, and transparency surrounding data measurement and insights. Most of its data comes directly from mobile app publishers through its proprietary location based SDK, known as XDK. With more than 300 apps on its platform, X-Mode licenses a data panel that includes mobility metrics, near real-time GPS, and other detection capabilities.
In addition, the company provides access to an anonymized user panel to hundreds of clients across multiple industries including mapping and location services, adtech, fintech, smart cities and real estate.
Commenting on the launch. CEO Josh Anton (pictured) said: 'As we bring X-Mode to market our team quickly realized three major opportunities for disruption in the location industry: data licensees' need for high-quality location data, publishers looking for additional monetization strategies, and consumers wanting more transparency on how their location data is being used'.
